Major Prescott Expansion Nearly Doubles Plant Size, Triples Plant Capacity.

The Bergquist Company has broke ground for a major expansion of its Prescott, Wisconsin facility. The new 30,000 square foot addition will nearly double the plant size, allowing the facility to triple its production capacity. The addition will be built on the east side of the present building. The new facility will be completed by July 2011, tripling its capacity. Amazingly the combined operation, with upgrades in place, will use less water and generate less waste than its current operation.

The Thermal Substrates group has been in Prescott since 1997. The group designs and manufactures thermal substrates and circuits for heat-sensitive applications. The products are used in automotive and industrial applications, as well as in the generation of solar power. With doubled sales, the increase is largely a result of the rapidly growing LED lighting market. All key operations are done entirely in the US, exporting more than half of its products to customers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Bergquist invests heavily in research and development of new products, and is excited about the growth prospects for this plant.

BRIDGELUX, INTRODUCES INDUSTRY’S FIRST 5-YEAR WARRANTY ON ENTIRE LINE OF LED PRODUCTS

SOLID STATE LIGHTING LEADER, BRIDGELUX, INTRODUCES

INDUSTRY’S FIRST 5-YEAR WARRANTY ON ENTIRE LINE OF LED PRODUCTS

World’s Most Reliable LED Arrays and Modules Now Feature Industry’s Best Warranty Protection

Livermore, Calif. – October 12, 2010 – Bridgelux Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of

LED lighting technologies and solutions, today introduced a 5-year warranty, effective

immediately, on all of the company’s integrated LED arrays and light sources sold worldwide.

This unprecedented move boosts standard 1-year and 3-year warranties to deliver industryleading

5-year warranty protection, emphatically demonstrating Bridgelux’s confidence in LED

technology while providing customers the assurances needed to enable the $100 billion market

opportunity for solid state lighting.

“We are offering a 5-year warranty because we stand proudly behind the quality of Bridgelux

products as well as the broader capabilities and benefits of solid state lighting overall,” said Bill

Watkins, Bridgelux chief executive officer. “This warranty is a win-win all around. It addresses

our customers’ needs, supports the entire industry by accelerating market penetration, and

helps deliver LED technology’s energy savings and environmental benefits more quickly to the

end customer.”

The 5-year warranty covers not only the Bridgelux LED Array product families, offering the

industry’s widest performance range from 240 to 4500 operational lumens, but also the award

winning Helieon sustainable light module, co developed, marketed and sold by Bridgelux and

Molex.

“The success of our customers is critical to the success of Bridgelux,” said Jason Posselt, vice

president of marketing for Bridgelux. “The lighting market is demanding 3 to 5 year warranties

on solid state lighting products. The 5-year warranty protection on light sources provided by

Bridgelux will make it easier for our customers, lamp and luminaire manufacturers, to meet

market requirements for their products. Further, it also allows our partners to minimize the cost

and time they spend on warranty related issues while improving their ability to win new business

opportunities.”

"To innovate and expand our business we must use the latest LED lighting technology,” said

Chuck Campagna, chief executive officer of Amerlux. "With LED technology evolving at a pace

faster than typical lighting design cycles, we are faced with a challenge to ensure that we bring

high quality products to market while still using leading edge technology. The 5-year warranty

provided by Bridgelux allows us to confidently deliver one of the industry's most advanced solid

state lighting solutions at a pace that addresses both Amerlux business requirements and

lighting industry demands."

Features and Description

Detection of vibration of the board and display of this information using the LEDs

Detection of circular motion of the board

Detection of tilt of the board

Six different modes of operation of the system

Music/rhythm patterns as per the mode and motion of the board

Low power consumption along with standby of the system on regular intervals of time

Battery monitoring and display of the battery status using the LEDs

Powered up by 3 AAA batteries.

Free MCU I/Os for the future extensions

SWIM connector for the debugging capability

RoHS compliant

The system, called as vibration analysis board, is a demonstration board which detects the vibration of the board and measures the acceleration in all three axes(X, Y and Z) because of this motion. This information is displayed using the different color LEDs placed in three axes.
The system can detect the tilt of the board and this information is displayed using the Bi-color led placed at the center of the board.
The board can also be configured to detect the circular motion of the board and LED patterns are generated depending on the motion of the board.
The system is also provided with the demonstration mode, in which different LED patterns get displayed irrespective of the position/motion of the board making the system suitable for exhibitions and seminars.
There are three musical modes in which the music/rhythm is played as per the mode/motion of the board and there are three silent modes making total of six different modes of operation of the system. The system can be switched from one mode to other by pressing an onboard push button designated MODE.
The system is put on the standby whenever there is no motion of the board for more than 10 seconds, reducing the power consumption of the system. The system wakes up from standby whenever any vibration/motion is detected. The system also monitors the battery and user can check the battery status at any time. Whenever the low battery is detected the system alerts the user to change the battery and enters into halt mode to avoid any misbehavior of the system.
The board is having free MCU I/Os for the external interface. Also SWIM connector is provided on the board providing the in circuit debugging capability.
The system can be powered up using 3 AAA batteries of 1.5 V each.
The board is of circular shape with total dimensions of 84 mm diameter and 26 mm height.
The board is RoHS compliant.
